Main Street Construction Impact Survey

If your business has been affected by the Main Street construction, the Office of the Mayor is asking you to complete this two-page survey and return it by Wednesday, September 30. It takes a few minutes, and good-faith estimates are fine.

This is how we measure the size of the impact. No fund exists yet, and returning the form is not an application for payment — but nothing can be decided until we know the scale of the need.

Three things are funded and getting done this fall — the roundabout, the Route 71 & Main work, and new pavers for the worn brick. Everything else is a menu of ideas to weigh — nothing is decided. Watch the short presentation, then weigh in below.

Business Improvement District
A downtown organization funded to handle programs, marketing, and upkeep.

Gateway parking signs
Clear signs at the entrances directing drivers to the municipal lots.

Calmed side streets
Turn restrictions on Pearce & Parker (seasonal), plus a permanent close of Miller Preston.

The trolley & its stop
A downtown trolley loop that connects the outer lots to Main Street.

Parallel parking + bike lanes
Reconfigure on-street parking and add bike lanes (the biggest change).

A parking garage
Not under consideration
A structured parking deck — somewhere on Main Street or in the Plaza.
This one is on the list only because residents asked us to look at it. The Mayor and Council do not support building a garage and do not believe the town needs one, and it is not being pursued. It is still here so you can tell us what you think.
